Bisi Alimi, a Nigerian activist for the rights of gay men, over the weekend, walked down the aisle with his groom, Anthony.
The wedding ceremony took place on Saturday, November 5th, 2016, in the United Kingdom amidst family and friends of the couple.
Bisi Alimi became popular for his brave decision to come forward in 2004 as the first self-declared Nigerian gay man.

After the declaration on Funmi Iyanda's show, New Dawn with Funmi, in 2004, his life came under serious death threats, forcing him to seek assylum in the United Kingdom.
Just before Bisi and Anthony's wedding ceremony , the Nigerian tweeted in reference to this when he wrote, "In Presence of friends & family from around the world, Anthony & I will say 'I Do'.

Alimi has been recognised for activism on behalf of the gay community, including being added to The Gay UK LGBT 2014 Honour List in recognition of his exemplary work for 'Education in the LGBT Community' on January 1st 2014.
